Welcome to the Mailstars, Prontos and Elephants Wikia[]

From 2001 to 2014, Royal Mail in the UK relied on a fleet of Pashley Pronto bicycles, which they called the "Mailstar".  The Pronto is a tubular steel tank of a machine, with a distinctive front basket that was designed to carry parcels and mail bags. The vast majority of decommissioned Royal Mail Mailstars have been shipped to Africa by two charities, Re-cycle and Krizevac Project. A limited 5,000 are being professionally refurbished in the UK, rebranded "Elephant Bikes" and can still be ordered at http://www.elephantbike.co.uk

The Missing Manual[]

We're a collection of Pronto owners hoping to document the best way to take care of these fabulous machines!

To get started, view the following map to see the features of the Mailstar build, or visit the Parts list to find pages on the most important pieces of your bike.
